Fun to see Marstrand!
Min första bil en 244 DL❤
240 DL un verdadero tanque, en mi familia soliamos decirle “el avion” porque con el motor 2.4L era algo increible paea ser un sedan, luego usamos el 940, 460 s40 y actualmente el s60
I've only ever driven one 245 and it was actually a Transfer model, the extra long one. It was my friend's dad's car and I was the only one with a drivers license. I had 3 or 4 buddies in the back and I was towing a boat too and I vividly remember that the gear lever could go from drivers floor to passenger floor and all the gears were somewhere in the middle 2 centimeters… I remember because it was almost impossible to find first gear, and starting in second with a boat in tow was not ideal, nevermind the 4 or 5 teen boys in the car. Funny memory.
A former colleague had a Volvo 240 with a V6 petrol engine. The car ran well in general terms.
He had a problem with the starter motor. The pinion gear was worn and the flywheel ring gear too. After a lot of work, we managed to find the spare parts at a dealership in Sweden.
Months later the injection pump broke. There was no way to find a spare part and it had to go to the scrapyard.
I understand that it is not possible to manufacture all the spare parts for all the cars manufactured, there would not be space in the factory! But it is not fair that the brands boast about their past without giving a minimum of help to people who want to keep their classic car.
The good old Sosse-container 🙂
I've stumbled and rolled one – I am sure when I say:
If it had been any other brand, I'd be shaken, stirred, blended and thoroughly toasted.
I got shook, kicked the door open and walked out and up the hill.
I live, despite being an idiot, because of a 240Gl
We need new generation Volvo 240! pleace make my dream come tru!
I just bought a Volvo 142 from 1974, last year they was made. Same color as the one in the video. looks good
Sorry, let me remember this ad from 2001: "To crash with a Volvo is extremely safe. If you're sitting in a SAAB. SAAB 9-5. Sweden's safest car. In real life."
software engineer here, driven 240's exclusively since i got my first as a 19 year old. my kids still think it is the most comfortable car they have been in, happy birthday old brick, we love you! <3
When i turned 18 last november i inherited my families old 240 from '88 as my first car. It's still in need of work, and it's dead atm, but man do i love this car! Im afraid no other car will ever feel as good
Svårt att hata när man fortfarande kör en 850 😂
242 DL:s rear does not at all look like the 240 GL our family had in the 1980:s, which was round shaped. I was fooled to believe i was watching an 144 in this video looking at its behind… 👍
It is also cause they built the cars to be repaired. The one manufacturer that will provide that, combined with modern features will once more take over the market.
My grandpa's first car was a Amazon he sadly sold it and i don't remeber exaktly what he bought efter but i think it was the following, 2nd car PV 544 or 444, 3rd might have been 240 if he didn't buy a 140, 4th 740 and soon it wont pass inspection so he wants to buy a 940.
My father's first car was also a Amazon that he still owns and soon will be finished with my first car which is also a Amazon.
Today I regret SO much I got rid of my old Volvo 244 DL back in the mid 2000s… It leaked more oil than a sinking oil tanker and had a lot of mechanical issues but had I been smart enough back then, I should have kept it and renovated it! But, instead I had to go get myself a newer Volvo, a V40 but I do really regret getting rid of my old 244! 🤔
almost my whole family drives volvo. my father has worked on volvo 240,140s and many other classic models almost his entire life. he even was the map reader in rallys that he and my uncle raced in. they drove a 244gl she was a angel. i have my own 245 glt -90 that my old teacher gifted me back in -14. i will never sell it
I bought my 245 2 years ago. It was left stranded over 20 years and I wanted to resurrect it. New battery in, new fuel and it started right up. Fascinating car. After a lot of bodywork and restoring the suspension and brakes, I got the car on the street again. It drives so well now, considering it being nearly 50 years old. Thanks Volvo!
It's so sad that Volvo was sold to china 🙁
I bought my dream car – the volvo 240 one month ago – it is so good to back basics, It has an analog clock instead of an RPM gauge lol
Stop making boring Suv and bring back the T5 engine
S90 is modern equivalent of 240, not a tall hatchback
Ja warum baut ihr solche Autos nicht mehr sondern nur noch den Elektro Schrott??? Ich will wieder nen 2,5l 5 Zylinder mit Handschaltung und Ohne die Ganze Elektronik.
Still till this day I see people who drives them as their daily drive.
Make it again.
